Barbacan Hotel Amsterdam Guest Reviews
Very good location on a quiet street, great selection of restaurants and cafes nearby, clean, and friendly service. Be sure to bring your own shampoo and soap as you will not find any in the ensuite bathrooms. It was also somewhat difficult to sleep with the late returners and early-risers stomping down the echoing hallways.

The hotel interior looked as though it had not been decorated since the war. During my several days' stay the hotel's debit-card machine did not work: staff gave varying reasons, with indifference or extreme rudeness. My room was tiny and had no coffee/tea-making facilities. I was told that room kettles were against Amsterdam fire regulations. No remote with TV. Internet cost euro 2.5/hour, the dearest I have known.

Hotel was nice overall, wireless internet was not working, but if it was it was a bit expensive to use. Location was not bad either, good access to the tram, or if you didn't mind walking to the sights it was about a 20min walk from there.

A bit noisy but very well located in a calm area, few minutes walk to the city center.

Only 10 minutes by tram but still a little further out of the centre than most - it was a great place to stay. Breakfast was excellent. 3 minutes walk to the Zoo. 2 minutes walk to the tram. Plenty of non-tourist priced restaurants with some great variety within 5 minutes walk. Great value in Amsterdam. Very comfortable with helpful staff and internet.
