Chateau Grand Barrail Hotel & Spa Saint Emilion Guest Reviews
A/C was low and had to resort to sleeping with the windows open. Hammam was not hot enough. Expected more for the price we paid.

Stunning landscape set amongst vineyards a short drive (at most 5 minutes) from St. Emilion. Chateaux itself was beautiful and very romantic setting, many french people we spoke to come here for their romantic weekend getaways. Rooms were lovely, clean and new and the shower had horizontal jet streams for a kind of standing spa. The room which was their most basic looked out over the vines with a little balcony and chairs, we spent the evening looking over vineyards with a bottle of wine. The room was by far the largest we have stayed in in europe for that price You can hire bicycles but only for the day and at 10 euros it is not worth it if you only want to go for a short ride somewhere. We had the set menu a the restaurant, it was very good value, apertif and entree were the highlight, mains slightly lacking flavour but still good. Don't get the breakfast. it is $24 euros for some meat, cheese, fruit and coffee and possible to get the identical items in St. Emilion for $4 euro.

Very disappointed on arrival to be advised that the restaurant was closed and no room service availbale, had to travel to nearest town for dinner. Further disappointed to discover that the bar was also closed as it is linked to the restaurant. the hotel is under new management since the 1st May and will not have any bar/restaurant until June. Also very limited availabiliyty for treatements in Spa.
