Danubius Hotel Regents Park London Guest Reviews
Stayed 1 night over New Years Eve in London, great hotel in quite location by Lords Cricket Ground. Lovely room , did not use restaurant, pleasant staff.Underground nearby for all attractions or if you prefer you could also walk to Oxford St, for example in 30 minutes.Check sites for prices as Hotel can be expensive, Rates to Go had a great rate of £119 for twin room 31/12 2011 best by far.

Some of the rooms are small but if you are not satisified, they are more than willing to change you to a room that may be slightly larger or has the view you were looking for. My room had a spectacular view of the tip of Regent's Park with trees and grass. We also could see a long distance down the London streets which was very pretty at night and fun to watch all the small British cars during the day. These rooms may be a little louder from street noise but I did not mind at all. If you require more quiet then simply request a room on the other side or Lord Cricket Ground corner room. Danubius Hotel is one of the very few hotels near Regent's Park area and walking distance to the Royal Regent's Park which is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Also walking distance to Regent's College London, St. John's Wood and Baker Street shops. Rooms come with an efficient electric British tea pot. Just fill it with water and plug it in and you will have your English tea. I am very addicted to coffee but gave it up during my entire vacation and have now switched to tea back in America. Room service is available at request. The entire hotel is energy efficient and lights and outlets can be turned on & off with the click of a convienent switch. Put your key card into a slot to manage lighting. Electricity in Europe is 230V so make sure you bring your own convertor for 120V. Beds are very clean and comfortable and come with a warm comforter and duvet (bed scarf) located at the bottom of the bed. I was never cold and the thermostat can be set in Celcius degrees not fahrenheit. Bathroom comes with cute little round soaps that can be peeled open like babybel cheese. Also comes with lotion, shampoo, and bath gel. Crystal glasses for water and a see-thru easy to open shower door, toilet paper rolls and toilet flushing system different than US. Very British and clever. Flat screen television with basic British stations, a French station and a Russian news station. I did not need more stations but if you prefer, you can pay for something more. You are welcomed to your hotel room with your name on the television with a background of London's main attractions. Front desk staff were always available to help, answer questions or for wake-up calls. Sylvia & Amy were especially helpful. The housekeeping & maintenance staff were also always available to give you what you need or to fix anything if needed. Since the hotel is green and energy conscious, your request to have room made up or extra towels, etc. is welcome at any time but not intrusive during your stay. Consierge service downstairs is also always available to help you book your tours. Malik went out of his way to help me find a way to go to Wales with my daughter even though there were no tours available for the day I wanted to go. There are doormen awaiting you when you enter through the glass revolving doors and will help you upon check-in with your luggage. Hesha was so helpful to me several different times; a real cutie! There is a 4-5 star restaurant downstairs, and a self-playing piano; although I never heard it play during my stay. There was a gigantic gorgeous Christimas tree put up on the main floor for those travelers during Christmas and pretty lights outside the hotel. If you search online at the different websites you can find a good deal for Danubius Hotel, but be prepared to pay more for 2 beds. For some reason, it is more expensive for 2 bed rooms rather than 1 double bed, which is the opposite of US, which normally 2 beds are standard in most hotels unless you ask for only 1 bed. The only other drawback that surprised me is that the hotel charges for internet. There is a great spot & table in the room specifically for hooking up your computer but you can only use the internet for 15 minutes free and then the rest will cost. I was told that other major cities such as New York also charge for internet in some of their hotels. Most American hotels do not charge for int

Location of the hotel was not ideal but once we figured out public transportation - and was no longer a primary source of income of the local taxis- the hotel loaction was no longer an issue. This experience was not the same when it came to the staff. Although it seemed as if they all had good intentions, they seemed to lack the "customer centric" focus, training and experience. Some of the staff members could even be considered rude... Would not stay at this hotel again.

Positives - reasonably sized room, I stayed at this hotel just one night. The hotel needs to avoide a high room cost. The staff there were friendly during checking in.

Great hotel, good position, right between two railway stations and a bus runs right past the end of the street, couldn't get any better.
