Wir haben am Abend eingecheckt und bekamen den Zimmerschlüssel. Als wir die Zimmertüre aufsperrten, sind wir schnell wieder an die Rezeption. Es war unsere erste Reise als Verlobte, und das Zimmer war in der Größe meiner Küche mit GETRENNTEN Betten. An der Rezeption teilte man uns dann mit, dass in dem Stock, in dem unser Zimmer wäre, angeblich die Heizung ausgefallen sei. Nicht genug, dass man uns nichts davon gesagt hat, als man uns den Zimmerschlüssel gab, wir wurden auch noch in einem Tonfall abgefertigt, als wäre das Selbstverständlich. Andere Doppelzimmer waren angeblich keine frei, also hatten wir die Wahl zwischen getrennten Betten und Erfrieren (Außentemperatur nachts in den Minusgraden). Eine schöne Überraschung für eine romantische Städtereise. Wir mussten also wohl oder übel in diese Abstellkammer zurück. Die Betten konnte man auch nicht nebeneinander stellen, dazu war der Raum zu klein. Das Bett meiner Verlobten stand noch dazu genau neben dem Abfluß bzw. Wasserrohr in der Wand. Jedesmal, wenn jemand die Klospülung betätigte, wurde sie aus dem Schlaf gerissen. Am nächsten Tag bekamen wir dann das GEBUCHTE Doppelzimmer, welches aber auch nur ein besserer Kerker war. Keine Fenster, nur Dachluken. Die Wand war feucht und der Putz bröckelte ab. So stelle ich mir ein 2-Sterne Hotel in der Türkei vor. Das Personal nahm anscheinend an, dass wir Hellseher sind. Nicht nur wurde uns nicht gesagt, dass wir ein Zimmer mit getrennten Betten bekommen, man hat uns am Vorabend auch einfach einen Stadtplan auf tschechisch(!) in die Hand gedrückt. Lapidares Kommentar auf Nachfrage am nächsten Tag: "Ja, die deutschsprachigen sind ja aus." Das Personal verfügt des weiteren sicher über ausgezeichnete Fremdsprachenkenntnisse, da es ausnahmslos aus Ausländern besteht. Der Empfangsbereich und die Bar sind nagelneu und modern. man hätte das Geld besser in schönere Zimmer oder eine funktionierende Heizung gesteckt. Nur Frühstück möglich, dazu eine rund um die Uhr geöffnete Bar. Über die Qualität der Getränke dort kann ich keine Angaben machen, da aber selten jemand an der Bar saß (an einem Wochenende), wird sie nicht berauschend sein. Das Frühstück ist eigentlich in Ordnung, nur die Rühreier waren definitiv nicht frisch und erinnerten mich an die Rühreier aus Eipulver beim Bundesheer. Nahe einer U-Bahnstation, aber das ist in Wien ja jedes Hotel. Einziger Pluspunkt des Hotels: Auf der anderen Staßenseite ist keine Kurzparkzone, man kann also gratis parken. Aber dafür kann das Hotel ja nichts. Nichts in der Umgebung des Hotels genutzt. Das ist definitiv das schlechteste Hotel, in dem ich jemals abgestiegen bin, und ich bin schon ein bisschen herumgekommen. Es ist außerdem auch das erste Mal, dass ich ein Hotel negativ bewerten muss. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass das ausgerechnet in Wien sein würde. Man nimmt ja an, dass in Österreich gewisse Standards gelten. Anscheinend nicht. Zusammenfassend ist das ein perfektes Beispiel dafür, wie ein mieses Hotel einen ganzen Urlaub ruinieren kann.

Good budget hotel for a short stay in Vienna. All staff were helpful and courteous. Hotel reasonably close to city centre and tram / train station (U6, Alse Strasse). Decent breakfast served with variety of cold/hot dishes. This hotel has a mascot, a pony sized black pooch called Silvio. Be careful not to stumble over him in the stairway hall. Only point to make is that Room 14 (single occupancy) had no heating in the bathroom. In winter this is less than attractive on a cold morning. On the other hand, it makes you linger less in the bathroom and spend more time productively expolring Vienna.

Hotel was located right outside a tram stop and within a 2 minute walk of the train station. The hotel itself is located in a somewhat seedy area, with many strip clubs and drunk youths. But as we were in the hotel by 9pm each night it was ok. Room was lovely and even included a chandelier but the walls were so thin between adjoining rooms we could hear EVERYTHING next door. Breakfast was a big disapointment, we went down at 8.30am and there was basically nothing left and nothing was refilled and the lack of available seating meant we had to stand and wait for a while before even getting a table. Service at front desk was friendly. But small front desk and the fact there was only usually one server meant waiting for a while before getting or returning room key.
