Excellent location but the check in staff were a nightmare. Slow with no system in place. Standard practice seems to be to just walk straight to the desk, jump the queue and the staff will deal with you if you are in their face. Even then, the room was wrong type and it was nearly 1630 before we were allocated the correct room ( despite dropping our bags and checking in at 930am)

The hotel is only a few minutes walk from Central Station and the start of the main city centre. We could hear the noise of the trains though as our room overlooked the railway line but there is a good view of the river. The hotel is modern and the rooms are adequately sized, clean and comfortable. A great feature was an iMac which TV and internet access could be used. We found all of the staff to be courteous and very helpful. The Sky Lounge is well worth a visit, great views of the city and sat watching the sunset over the city skyline. Drinks were slightly more expensive than the city bars but expected in a hotel.. We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again.

The Mint was a pretty good hotel. Fairly new and located just a block from the train station. Everything was clean and the bathroom was nice. GREAT shower!! Little small compared to US hotels but normal for Europe. You are just five minutes walk from all the fun in Amsterdam and the trains. Would definitely stay again. Price was reasonable ($200/nt Oct 2011).
