Hotel Pennsylvania New York Guest Reviews
We walked into a really nice lobby, but our stay went downhill from there. First, at check-in, we were surprised with a deposit on the room. Next bad surprise was the condition of the hall floors. The entire 9th floor (never visited any other floor) looked like it was from the 50s- and hadn't been repaired since. There were scuffs along the walls and missing doorknobs on some rooms. The cleaning closet on our floor was missing its knob and, in attempts to conceal this, there was a wad of paper stuffed in it. Our grand surprise was our "Superior room". The walls here were also scuffed and never painted. They were just plain drywall with primer paint and scuffs. The carpet was so old and worn and filthy. Where the carpet met the doorways, it was frayed. The bathroom was awful. The faucets were leaky and the tile on the floor was super dirty. The wood bordering the floor of the bathroom had gotten wet and rotted away in some places by the door. The wall, because it had not been painted/waterproofed/etc., was cracked and hanging from water damage. The only things that kept us from leaving the hotel were the decent bed, the bug-free room, the early check-out fee, and the amount of money we already spent on the room.

The Hotel Pennsylvania was very nice, The lobby was very NYC and is located in a great area. The rooms are a good size but a little old.

It's an old hotel and hasn't been updated but that's the beauty of it....you appreciate the past. The TV had a mind of it's own and would turn on when it wanted to, the hot water wasn't as hot at peak hours, but other than that....it did its job. It is in a great central location, it's inexpensive, and I will definitely stay there again.

The staff at Hotel Pennsylvania was very nice and tried to be accommodating. However, the hotel is very hotel and needs drastic updating. The carpets are old and dirty, walls and ceilings need re-painting, counters need to be put in the bathrooms so there will be room to put toiletries. We had to be moved from one floor of rooms because the carpets were filthy, the headboards were falling off the walls, and the old, vintage doors looked very scary. The location is excellent since it's near the theatre district. I would not recommend this hotel.

Awesome location. Decent room quality. The staff was helpful. The bed was a little hard but all in all an okay place to stay
