Location
Located opposite the Interlaken west railway station, the Merkur is convenient for guest arriving from all parts of Switzerland and further a field by train. From here it is also possible to take local transport to the Schilthorn, and the snow covered Jungfrau.
Rooms
The en suite rooms at the Merkur are clean and comfortable and all offer telephone, radio, and colour TV; hairdryers are available from reception.
Restaurant
The hotel serves a continental buffet breakfast every morning consisting of meats, cheeses, fruits, cereals, tea and coffee. Eggs and bacon are also available to order.
General
The Merkur Hotel is a friendly and central base for a holiday in the Bernese Oberland. The hotel also offers its guests an Internet corner or wireless internet access, snack and drinks dispenser, the comfortable Apero lounge and terrace with views over the mountains and the place to enjoy a drink after a long day, and for business guests the hotel also offers a meeting room.

Literally located just across the road from Interlaken West SBB Railway Station! Hotel was a little fastidious about not damaging its property and making a mess out of the bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff.

In a good location for all forms of transport but on the downside this makes it very noisy at night. Lift does not gp to the top floor where you have to use the stairs to get to the breakfast room. I would class this hotel as overpriced based on other hotels in Switzerland.

The room is compact which I think is "European". Do not compare with American hotels. They did not have ice machine. If you plan to use the room mainly for sleeping in the night (daytime if you spend in sight-seeing), this hotel is not a bad choice. Train station is across the hotel which is so convenient. There is a supermarket (Megro's) next to the hotel but it closes at 6pm.
