Location
The Original Raj Edinburgh is well served by public transport with a frequent bus service running from just outside the hotel into the city centre - a journey of under five minutes. Haymarket train station is also close by providing links to the UK and Scotland. The hotel is also well placed for air travelers with Edinburgh International airport just a few kilometres away.
Rooms
The 17 spacious ensuite rooms feature Indian canopy beds and have a bathtub and shower. Amenities include a TV, direct dial telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, and trouser press.
Restaurant
A continental buffet style breakfast is served in the dining room with a selection of cereals, toast, croissants and fruit. Guests are welcome to dine at the owner's 'Raj' Restaurant situated in nearby Leith.

Stayed at this hotel on two occasions. It is very well priced and was extremely easy to jump on a bus to the centre of town. Even though it was only an easy 15 walk into town. Was an easy taxi from the airport, we arrived on a late flight so taxi was the option, but there is a cheap bus service as well. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and a good size. Breakfast is basic, but it gets you started for the day. The wifi is only in the lounge but being on the lower floor I could still use it from my room. Would stay here again. Would stay here again if returning to Edinburgh.

This hotel could be fabulous with a little attention to small but important details - the bathroom sink did not have a plug, the shower controls were broken and hard to turn, the breakfast room lacked any sort of atmosphere and was so quiet people were afraid to talk. The decor and cleanliness were good and the hotel was within walking distance of Edinburgh centre (by our standards; there is a bus stop nearby for those who dislike walking). The hotel is also on the bus route from the Airport, so is easy to reach without a car. Within the hotel our first impressions were good - large bedrooms, authentic furniture, friendly and helpful staff etc. It was only later that realised the many small problems that together spoil the stay.

Continental Breakfast was fairly poor as was the insufficent room/area to eat it in. The room was absolutely fantastically furnished, unfortunately the radiators did not work which was a problem since it was -3deg outside. This was reported to the staff but was not rectified druing our 2 nite stay. My overall impression of the hotel is that they are tryin to do a good job with a good idea , but they are slipping up on some of the basics which is a real shame.
